Many people did not know that there are seagulls in Kansas and other U.S. states that are land-locked. But they stay year-round in Kansas and feed on fish found in lakes or rivers. Three species that live in Kansas are the Ring-Billed Gull, Franklin's Gull, and the Herring Gull. The Ring-Billed Gull (pictured) only lives on the coasts for the winter and no other time, however there are hundreds that I have seen that stay in Kansas during winter too, and can be found in Kansas at East Lake, West Lake, Springlake, Lake Cheney, Cheyenne Bottoms, and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge.
